Tazpen

International unlicensed name: PIPERACILLIN AND TAZOBACTAM 

Formulation: 2 g/250 mg Lyophilized Powder for IV Injection, 4 g/500 mg Lyophilized Powder for IV Injection  

Reagents 

Each Piperacillin and Tazobactam for Injection 2 g single dose vial contains an amount of drug sufficient for withdrawal of piperacillin sodium equivalent to 2 or 4 grams of piperacillin and tazobactam sodium equivalent to 0.25 g or 0.5 g of tazobactam:

  1. Piperacillin/tazobactam injection Vial size (piperacillin / tazobactam Minimum volume of diluent to be added to vial 2.25 g (2 g/0.25 g) 10 ml 4.50 g (4 g/0.5 g) 20 mL 
  2. The reconstituted solution may be further diluted to 50 mL with saline, glucose 5% or dextran 6% in saline. To reduce microbiological hazard, use as soon as practicable after reconstitution. If storage is necessary, hold at 2° - 8°C for not more than 24 hours.

Application:

Tazpen  is used for treating  low respiratory tract  infections, abdominal cavity infections, skin infections:

  • Respiratory tract infections, especially pneumonia;
  • Abdominal cavity infections (peritonitis, biliary and digestive tract infections);
  • Sepsis;
  • Skin infections and diabetic foot;
  • Infections in patients with weakened immune system Neutropenia; (in combination with aminoglycosides group)

Children from 2 till 12 

  • complicated appendicitis  (rupture of appendix with peritonitis, and abscess formed);
  • bacterial infections of patients with neutropenia, in combination with aminoglycosides

When prescribing Tazpen, it is necessary to follow the official recommendations of antibiotic therapy and the recommendations of antibiotic resistance prophylaxis in particular.
